Cardinals Win in Football, Lose in Field Hockey

The high school fall sports season has begun. Patch will bring you a weekly review of what happened for Westwood High School and IHA players and provide a preview of upcoming games.

Week in Review

• The , 33-8. The team now has a record of 1-1.
  
  
• The WHS boys soccer team lost to Fort Lee Monday, 3-2 and beat Dumont Tuesday, 2-1.
  
  
• The IHA tennis team lost to Dwight-Englewood in a 5-0 sweep Monday. The team also lost to Pascack Hills Wednesday, 5-0.
  
  
• The WHS field hockey team lost to Wayne Valley Friday, 5-1; lost to Hackensack Monday, 1-0; and lost to West Milford Wednesday, 5-0.
  
  
• The WHS girls cross country team lost to Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood Tuesday, 50-15.
  
  
• The WHS girls soccer team defeated Park Ridge Tuesday, 3-1.
  
  
• WHS girls volleyball lost to Fort Lee Tuesday, 2-1.
  
  
• The IHA volleyball team defeated Passaic Tech Friday, 2-0 and beat Ridgewood Tuesday, 2-0.
  
  
• The IHA soccer team tied with Ridgewood Thursday, 0-0.
  
  
• The Record ranked IHA girls soccer number two and Westwood number 17 in its list of top 25 local teams.

What's Ahead:

FRIDAY

• The WHS girls field hockey team is scheduled to play Pompton Lakes away at 4 p.m.
  
  
• The WHS girls tennis team has a match set against Cliffside Park away at 4:15 p.m. The girls volleyball team will also play Cliffside Park away at 4:15 p.m.
  
  
• The WHS football team will play its first home game in the new stadium at 7 p.m. against Dwight Morrow High School. A dedicatioin ceremony at the new stadium is scheduled for 5 p.m.

SATURDAY

• The WHS boys and girls cross country teams are scheduled to compete in the Warwick Invitational at 9 a.m.
  
  
• The girls tennis team at WHS is scheduled to compete in the BCWCA Girls Tennis Tournament, starting at 9 a.m.
  
  
• The Lady Cardinals have a soccer game scheduled at home against Dumont High School at 11 a.m.
  
  
• The IHA soccer team has a home game scheduled at noon against DePaul Catholic High School.
  
  
• The WHS boys soccer team has a home game against Cliffside Park scheduled for 1 p.m.

SUNDAY

• The girls tennis team at WHS is scheduled to compete in the BCWCA Girls Tennis Tournament, starting at 9 a.m.

MONDAY

• The Lady Cardinals are scheduled to take on Paramus Catholic away at 4 p.m.
  
  
• The IHA tennis team has an away match set for 4 p.m. against Passaic County Technical Institute.
  
  
• The WHS girls field hockey team has a home game scheduled against River Dell High School at 4 p.m.
  
  
• The Lady Cardinals will take on Rutherford High School in volleyball at home at 4:15 p.m.
