Dave And Buster's Hopes To Open Bergen County Restaurant: Report

Chain is waiting for Gov. Christie to sign a law allowing them to operate in N.J. Paramus, Meadowlands, and maybe Wayne possible locations.

Dave & Buster’s hopes to open three to four locations in New Jersey, including one in Bergen County most likely, but must first wait for Governor Christie to sign a law allowing the restaurant and entertainment chain to operate in New Jersey.

The state Senate passed a bill recently that repeals a 1959 law prohibiting businesses from having both a liquor license and a license to operate Boardwalk-style games. The law has kept Dave & Buster’s from opening a New Jersey location.

Assemblyman Scott Rumana (R-Wayne), one of the bill’s sponsors, told The Record that he is ”hopeful that we will see a signature sometime soon so that we can start attracting business here in New Jersey.”

The Bergen County officials backing the bill have said that Dave & Buster officials have told them that Paramus would be a top choice for the company to open a North Jersey location, the newspaper reported.

The American Dream entertainment and shopping complex being built at The Meadowlands is another possible location, the report states.

Wayne officials said they would be open to the idea of Dave & Buster’s opening a location somewhere on either Routes 23 or 46.

The closest of Dave & Buster’s 76 restaurants to North Jersey is in the Palisades Cetner in West Nyack, N.Y.; that location opened in 1998.
