Donations Pour In For Cancer-Stricken Son Of Bergen Cop From Westwood

Joey Bulger, 7, is battling a form of leukemia

WESTWOOD, N.J. — Donations are pouring in for Joey Bulger, a 7-year-old borough boy who was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer.

Bulger was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia recently. Francesca Santore Meisten launched a Go Fund Me campaign that has raised more than $22,600 to help the family pay for medical bills.

"As friends of this wonderful family who have always given to people in need, it is our turn to give to them. Any amount you donate is greatly appreciated. No amount is too small," Meisten said on the campaign's website. "As you can imagine life changed in a split second when this family of three got the devastating news. One second they were laughing and attending holiday parties and the next second they are spending their days and nights in a hospital."

The type of cancer Bulger has begins in bone marrow. Cancerous cells soon spread to the blood. It is fatal if left untreated.

Bulger's father Chris is a sergeant with the River Vale Police Department.
