Swim Meet in Memory of Bergen Sharks Coach R.J. Anderson

A special swim meet will be held in honor of Bergen County YJCC Bergen Sharks’ head swim team coach R.J. Anderson, who died suddenly this summer. The 2011 JCC All-Star/Open Swim Meet, also known as the R.J. Anderson Memorial Meet, will be held Sunday, Dec. 11 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Raritan Bay YMCA, 357 New Brunswick Avenue, Perth Amboy.

According to a statement from the YJCC: "While Anderson coached the Bergen Sharks for only a couple of years, he had a tremendous impact on the team and on individual swimmers. The Sharks doubled in size to nearly 200 swimmers during his tenure, and he succeeded in nurturing confidence and commitment in each of his swimmers."

Teams participating in the JCC All-Star/Open Swim Meet compete in the New Jersey JCC/YM-YWHA Swim League. Swim teams competing in this event are: Bergen Sharks, Bergen County YJCC, Township of Washington; Bridgewater Tide, Shimon and Sara Birnbaum JCC, Bridgewater; Metro Express, JCC of MetroWest, West Orange; Middlesex Blue Dolphins, JCC of Middlesex County, Edison; Wave Runners, Kaplen JCC on the Palisades, Tenafly; Union Sharks, YM-YWHA of Union County, Union; Barracudas, JCC of Central New Jersey, Scotch Plains, who will also be serving as meet hosts.
