Heat Will Close Public Schools Early Thursday

Superintendent Geoffrey Zoeller sent out a notice Wednesday afternoon telling parents that because of the extreme heat predicted, schools will operate on an early dismissal schedule Thursday.

Zoeller said parents should make sure students are dressed in lightweight clothing and encouraged them to provide a bottle of water for their children.

After-care programs will be canceled for Thursday as will most after-school programs. "Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis," Zoeller wrote.

The Board of Education meeting scheduled for Thursday night will still happen as planned at 7:30 p.m. in the Hurley Theater of .
