Hillsdale Boy Named Lt. Gov. Of Boys State Program

Sam Cassidy is a senior at Pascack Valley High School and will be class president in September.

HILLSDALE, NJ — A borough senior at Pascack Valley High School has been named lieutenant governor of a statewide government instruction program.

Sam Cassidy was elected to the position out of the more than 950 boys who attended a Boys State ceremony June 18. American Legion Post 162 sponsored Cassidy's participation in the program.

The 82-year-old Boys State program is designed to teach high school students how municipal, state and national government works and encourage them to participate in it by forming local, county and state governments.

Cassidy received a $2,500 scholarship from the American Legion at the ceremony.

Cassidy recently completed his junior year at Pascack Valley High School, is a member of the football team and will be Senior Class president when school starts in September.
