IHA Director of Public Relations Loves What She Does

Tara Driggs has passed her one-year anniversary at the school

Tara Driggs started her journey at July 1, 2010 and has enjoyed every second of it. Driggs has many responsibilities as the director of public relations and the days can get very hectic.

Driggs’ job is to spread the word about accomplishments of students and faculty along with school events that are coming up. There are many responsibilities for the job.

"I am constantly working on our seasonal newsletter which goes out three times a year to the present IHA community and all alumnae," said Driggs. "I write a variety of press releases on upcoming events and special accomplishments, which I send out to newspapers and magazines in the area. Additionally, I am the content manager and editor of our new website, to be launched this summer. I also assist the principal in a variety of everyday tasks and field calls and inquiries from photographers and reporters interested in covering IHA events."

Despite the crazy schedule, Driggs goes in every day with a smile on her face ready to help out the IHA community.

"I absolutely love my job. Not only am I able to write about all of IHA's wonderful news for area residents to read, but I get to work in a supportive and enjoyable environment with great colleagues."

Getting things done in a timely fashion is one of the most difficult parts of the job, but Driggs succeeds. The fun part comes when she is researching and reading articles and looking at photos of successful IHA events and accomplishments of people involved with the school.

It was a very busy year for IHA, but Driggs had fun getting the first year under her belt and enjoyed watching the school's success.

"This whole year was a whirlwind for me, not only because it was my first year here, but also because IHA was celebrating their 50th anniversary. It was so exciting to be part of the planning and publicizing of such an important and memorable year," she said. "The highlight for me must have been our Jubilee Gala, held in March. Not only was I able to write a lot about it in a variety of publications, but everyone who attended had a blast."
