Kids Hear Dr. Seuss Books from Guest Readers

students got a break from the regular routine Wednesday when they got to hear public figures in the community read Dr. Seuss books read to them.

The guest readers came as part of the school celebration of Read Across America. March 2 was children's author Dr. Seuss' birthday and throughout the country, schools recognized the day, and the week, with reading events.

At Brookside, children heard books like Green Eggs and Ham and Thing 1 and Thing 2 from recognizable adults in the community. Westwood Mayor John Birkner Jr., school board members, representatives from the and the borough historian all came to the school to read to the children Wednesday.

The kids seemed excited about the guests and the books, reciting some of the lines they knew along with the readers.

Brookside Principal Matthew Wilson said the program may expand next year to include events throughout the week instead of just one day.
