Nothing But Strings: Seniors Enjoy the Music of Concert Violinist
The Riley Senior Center in Westwood hosts concert violinist David Podles
"A table, a chair, a bowl of fruit and a violin, what else does one need to be happy?" That was what Albert Einstein once said. Some may argue his point, but not the residents of Westwood House.
Sunday night while most watched the Academy Awards on TV, they were treated to a live concert by violinist David Podles. Originally from Latvia, Podles performed an assortment of pieces that focused on the history of dance, ranging from the 14th century to the 20th century.
The arrangements revolved around such dances as classical, the foxtrot, the waltz, the tango, the polka and ending his performance with a Riley Senior Center request of Korsakov’s "Flight of the Bumblebee."
