Official School Board Results Released

The Bergen County Superintendent of Elections has released the certified results from the April 27 school elections. The results are the same that , though one race was extremely close.

Incumbent Barbara Gregory beat challenger Susan Huber by one vote to retain her seat on the board for another three years representing Washington Township. Gregory received 574 votes while Huber got 573. Incumbent Darlene Mandeville retained her seat on the board with 656 votes.

For the three-year term in Westwood, incumbent Lee-Ann Schaadt was victorious with 541 votes, defeating challenger Donna Firriolo who received 438 votes.

Susan Swietkowski won the one-year unexpired term in Westwood with 390 votes. Challenger Russell Miller received 358 votes and Christopher Montana got 289. Swietkowski was appointed to the position in February after trustee Eileen Mosolino resigned.

All four winners will be sworn in to their positions at the Board of Education meeting Thursday.

The $47.5 million school budget tax levy passed with 1,300 votes in favor and 1,025 against.
