• Westwood Cares seeks donations as emergency assistance funds run low (thepressgroup.net) — Westwood Cares urgently needs donations to keep helping borough residents facing financial emergencies with rent, utilities, food, medicine, and heating oil. The all-donation-funded nonprofit serves neighbors who don't qualify for state aid, and contributions can be made at Borough Hall, by mail, or online, with questions directed to Westwood Social Services.
   

• Movie filmed in Bergen County towns by NJ director, to open Sept. 4 (northjersey.com) — A new coming-of-age film, "American Summer," by Westwood High School graduate Michael W. Gray features scenes shot on Roosevelt Avenue and at Five Dimes Brewery in Westwood, plus other Bergen County spots. Opening Sept. 4 in New York City, the movie draws on Gray's memories of growing up in Westwood, with local theater showtimes still to be announced.
