Police To Close Hillsdale Streets, Limit Parking Due To Demarest Farms Traffic

BREAKING: Streets west of Pascack Road may be affected this weekend and next weekend.

HILLSDALE, N.J. — Police will close streets and intersections in response to the increased amount of traffic heading to Demarest Farms this weekend and next weekend.

This will affect all streets west of Pascack Road.

Royal Park Terrace and Melville Road will be closed at the intersection of Werimus Road and Overlook Drive, Mayor Doug Frank said.

Streets to the east of Werimus Road down to Pascack Road will also be closed to all but local traffic.

Residents will be required to show their driver’s license or identification with their address to pass barricades at the entrance to these streets. The barricades will be manned by both local and county police officers.

Frank and the Borough Council recently passed a resolution allowing the police department to close streets and prohibit parking on borough streets on "an emergency basis."

Motorists and residents should expect traffic jams and gridlock. Officials will work with Demarest Farms "to mitigate the situation as best we can," Frank said.
