Police To Honor Westwood, Washington Towship Kids With Special Chief For A Day Program

The police will give two children with a chronic health condition a behind-the-scenes look at the department's inner workings.

WESTWOOD, NJ — Two fortunate children from Westwood and Washington Township will get a behind-the-scenes look at the police department thanks to the annual Chief for a Day program.

The Bergen County Sheriff's Department spearheads the annual initiative. Police departments throughout Bergen County are participating in the program.

The program is designed to brighten the lives of local children with chronic health conditions. Kids will done official police chief uniforms and spend time at their local police department agencies and then travel to the Bergen County Justice Center to meet as a group with Sheriff Michael Saudino.

“It’s an honor for law enforcement to be able to brighten the lives of seriously ill children in this way," Saudino said in a statement.

The kids will then proceed in a motorcade to the Stony Hill Inn in Hackensack where they will be honored at a luncheon.
