Positive Behavior Initiative Presentation, Retirements at School Board Meeting Thursday

The agenda also includes student awards and recognitions

Members of the are expected to hear a presentation about the Positive Behavior Support in School (PBSIS) Initiative at during the school board meeting Thursday night. Special education teacher Suzanne Ziegler is slated to give the presentation.

Several retirements also appear on the Board of Education agenda, including sixth grade teacher Joyce Woods, speech therapist Esther Schnaittacher and middle school secretary Catherine MacRae. According to the agenda, Superintendent Geoffrey Zoeller will also ask the board to scale down a secretarial position at the middle school after MacRae's retirement. If approved, the secretary would work 10.5 months instead of 12.

Also in the area of personnel, the board is expected to vote on a voluntary transfer for Frank Connelly. He would go from assistant principal at the high school to assistant principal at the middle school, effective July 1. Several appointments to new positions are also on the agenda.

Board members are expected to vote to award several bids including delivery of computer toner and printer supplies, special education IEP software, garbage and recycling pickup and disposal and delivery of custodial supplies for the 2011-2012 school year.

The school board meeting is scheduled for Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Hurley Theater of , 701 Ridgewood Road, Washington Township.
