School Board Scheduled to Introduce Preliminary Budget Thursday Night

The Board of Education meeting begins at 7:30 p.m.

Members of the are expected to approve the preliminary budget for the 2011-2012 school year at the school board meeting Thursday night.

According to the agenda, the total base budget is $50,124,950 and the total tax levy is $46,555,200. Those amounts include money from the general fund, special revenue fund and debt service fund.

The district received more state aid than expected, so there will be no cuts to staff or programs, according to Superintendent Geoffrey Zoeller. He said previously that he may be able to restore one or two positions or programs that were cut last year.

Board members are expected to vote on a resoultion granting a contract to John J. Faccas, Inc., t/a Quality Electric Construction Co. for $167,000 for main electric service replacement at Westwood Jr./Sr. High School.

Also on the agenda, District Technology Department Head Ryan Kenny is scheduled to give a district technology report during the meeting Thursday night.

The meeting is scheduled to be held in the Campbell Auditorium of Westwood High School at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
