Westwood, Hillsdale Make List Of Safest NJ Towns

Breaking: Alarms.org looked at violent crime rate as part of its annual rankings.

WESTWOOD, NJ — Two local towns were named to a new list of the safest municipalities in New Jersey.

Alarms.org released it annual list of the safest cities in New Jersey recently. Hillsdale was ranked No. 7 and Westwood No. 15.

New Milford was ranked No. 2. It has a 0.12 violent crimes and 2.44 property crimes per 1,000.

River Vale Township was ranked No. 1. It did not log a single violent crime in the latest year for which there is data, and boasts a property crime rate of just 2.59 per 1,000 residents, according to the website.

Other Bergen County municipalities ranked in the top 20 were: Bergenfield at No. 9 and Tenafly and 18, respectively.

  • 46th: Palisades Park
  • 41st: Wyckoff
  • 37th: Oakland

  • 27th: Ridgefield
  • 23rd: Ringwood
