Westwood Left Seeing Red

Westwood suffers its second straight loss as the team falls to the Scarlets of Ridgefield Park 18-32

Coming off a tough loss to Mahwah last week, the Westwood Cardinals came into Friday’s game with the Ridgefield Park Scarlets looking to right the ship.

The first quarter featured a defensive battle with both teams unable to put points on the board. The second quarter, however, saw both offenses getting going. The Scarlets struck first off a two-yard touchdown catch by Christopher Fitzgerald. But the Cardinals answered back on the following possession when Jeremy Taylor, who threw for 152 yards, connected with Charles Lomolino for a 25-yard touchdown. Each team put up two more scores and went into the half with the Cardinals trailing 12-13.

The second half started with the Cardinals' Jeremy Taylor connecting with Ryan Galloway for an 80-yard touchdown. But the Scarlets answered with the running game of Eric Reynoso and Sean Sniffen who both rushed for more than 100 yards, and helped hand the Cardinals their second straight loss as they had no answer or way to stop the Scarlets' running attack and lost 18-32.
