Westwood Man Killed By Train Identified

The 87-year-old man was killed by a NJ Transit train early Sunday morning near Broadway and Irvington Street, authorities said.

WESTWOOD, NJ — Authorities have identified the man hit and killed by a NJ Transit train early Sunday morning.

George Koury, 87, of Westwood was struck at about 1:40 a.m. at Irvington Street and Broadway, said Nathan Rudy, a NJ Transit spokesman. (See related: Man Killed By NJ Transit Train In Westwood)

Koury was hit by the final train of the night on the Pascack Valley Line, which had 13 people on board. No injuries were reported to any of those individuals.

Koury was pronounced dead at the scene, Rudy previously said.

The incident shut down service on the Pascack Valley Line for hours.
