Westwood Schools Raise Money For Sick First-Grader
Photos from recent events at Westwood Regional Schools
At the last home game of the Boys Varsity Basketball season, Westwood Regional High School’s hosted “Elizabeth Night” to benefit first-grader Elizabeth Fasciano. A student at Brookside Elementary School, which is also part of the Westwood Regional School District, Fasciano was diagnosed with brain cancer when she was 13-months old. Since then, she has received a number of treatments, which put her cancer in remission for a year, before she was re-
diagnosed in 2007.
Currently, Fasciano receives an orally-administered form of chemotherapy, and her recently exams have shown encouraging results. The treatment proves extremely expensive; however, and is not covered by medical insurance, which inspired the Westwood community to host a fundraiser to help Fasciano’s family offset the cost of her treatment.
Before the start of the game, Brookside Elementary student Jack Santulli and Senior Basketball player Mike Gaffney presented Fasciano with a bouquet of flowers in her favorite color—purple. The Westwood Boys Varsity Basketball team also wore purple t-shirts in her honor.
