Westwood Track Duo To Keep Running Together
Meghan Kocher and Michelle Cascio will be heading to TCNJ in the fall to continue their track careers
graduates Meghan Kocher and Michelle Cascio wouldn’t trade the four years that they experienced as Lady Cardinals for anything in the world.
Both student athletes will be continuing their track careers together at The College of New Jersey in the fall. They will both be moving on with Westwood High School always in their hearts.
"Of course I'm going to miss running for Westwood," said Kocher. "One main thing I'm going to miss next year is my coach, George Glover. Without him I wouldn't have become the runner I am today. He has shaped the Westwood track program and all of its runners. I don't think I would be the runner I am today without his coaching and guidance. I am also going to miss my team and all the girls. There is so much talent still on this team and I'll definitely miss running with all of them."

Cascio, who said Glover will always be her Coach, agrees with Kocher.
"I will miss being a Cardinal terribly," said Cascio. "My teammates are my best friends. I will miss our team traditions and running with new team will definitely be an adjustment. Running with these girls has been the greatest time of my life."

Making the National Championship in Greensboro, N.C. was an experience that neither runner will soon forget. They also had other memorable moments.
"For me, the best moment of the season was winning the 4x4 at the Bergen Meet of Champs," said Cascio. "Not only did we set a school record, but the relay received first team all county honors. Defending the title from winter was one of the most important things we had to do. The 4x4 is the ultimate race for Westwood. It shows guts, speed and team pride. Everyone who competed at BMOC ran so well and really represented what Westwood is all about."
Kocher’s favorite moment was more recent.
"The best part of my season by far was [June 17]," said Kocher. Winning a race at nationals was the icing on the cake for my four years of running and I would not want to finish a track season any other way. There were so much emotions that day and I want to thank Corrine Meyers for making that last leg of our 4x8 so memorable. I will forever remember that race and our trip down to nationals."
It was a great year for Westwood track and the team will miss these two runners, who will keep in touch with their old running mates who have a very bright future.
