Wetwood Eagle Scout Honored For Restoration Project

Matthew C. Yale, an Eagle Scout from Westwood, received a 2015 Bergen County Historic Preservation Award.

Yale supervised the restoration of the “Old Well” site in Veterans’ Memorial Park and helped rebuild a wood structure over it.

The Old Well dates back to the early 1900s when the park was home to many of Westwood’s influential early families.

Yale had to research the Old Mill, prepare the restoration plans, and supervise the restoration.

Yale was honored at a ceremony at A.M.E. Zion Church in Hackensack Thursday.
