1 Killed, 2 Cars Crash At YMCA In South Amboy

Three others were hurt after cars crashed at the building.

One person was killed and three others were hurt after two cars crashed at a New Jersey YMCA on Monday, police said.

Few details about the crash have been released, but News12 reported that one of the drivers lost control and plowed into a second car, which then slammed into the side of the South Amboy YMCA building.

South Amboy Mayor Fred Henry told News12 that a man was hit by one of the cars and thrown into the glass door entrance of the YMCA. He later died from his injuries.

Two other men and a young girl were also hurt in the incident, but he extent of their injuries was not immediately known, according to the report.

South Amboy police reported that the crash happened around 5 p.m. on John T. O’Leary Boulevard. The YMCA said it canceled evening activities after the tragedy.
