5 East Brunswick Students Given National Merit Scholarships
Grace Ding, Avi Shah, Kira Horowitz, Lawrence Huang and Alice Zhang all received the prestigious scholarship award.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — An incredible five East Brunswick High School students are recipients of the prestigious National Merit scholarships, it was announced Monday.
Grace Ding, who listed engineering as her probable career field was given a scholarship from TD Ameritrade, an investment firm. The TD Ameritrade Merit Scholarship awards recognize the outstanding students who are the sons and daughters of their employees.
Avi D. Shah, who listed his probable career field as undecided, also a student at East Brunswick High, received a scholarship from R.R. Donnelley & Sons. R. R. Donnelley is the world's premier full-service provider of printing and related services, including business process outsourcing.

Kira Z. Horowitz, also listed as undecided, was given a $2,500 scholarship supported by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation's own funds.
Lawrence Huang, who gave his probable career field as medicine, received a $2,500 scholarship supported by National Merit Scholarship Corporation's own funds.

And Alice Zhang, who listed biological engineering, received a $2,500 scholarship supported by National Merit Scholarship Corporation's own funds.
More than 1.6 million high school juniors entered the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program when they took the 2015 Preliminary SAT. About 16,000 semifinalists were chosen for consideration for a scholarship based on their outstanding academic records, completion of an essay and other criteria.
