6 New Police Officers Hired In Woodbridge

The Woodbridge Police Dept. is now at its maximum staffing level of 213 sworn officers. The officers sworn in this week are:

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — This week, six new police officers were sworn in to the Woodbridge Township Police Department.

The new officers successfully completed the state-mandated six-month police training commission program and will immediately take-up patrol assignments on the streets of Woodbridge.

The Woodbridge Police Dept. is now at its maximum staffing level of 213 sworn officers, said Mayor John McCormac, who said he was proud to make the new hires and "effectively protect Woodbridge public safety."

Police officer Dipen Prakah Nayee

Officer Dipen Prakash Nayee, 24, a resident of the Menlo Park Terrace section of the Township, graduated John F. Kennedy Memorial High School in 2016. Officer Nayee graduated from Kean University in May 2021 with a B.A. in Criminal Justice. Officer Nayee previously worked as a TSA Officer at Newark Airport and served as a Woodbridge Township Auxiliary Police Officer from 2019 to 2022. Officer Nayee graduated from the Cape May County Police Academy in June 2023 and will take-up assignment in the Radio Patrol Division.

Police officer Vincent Carl Gargano

Officer Vincent Gargano, 31, a life-long resident of the Strawberry Hill neighborhood of Woodbridge Proper, graduated Woodbridge High School in June 2010. Officer Gargano graduated from West Virginia University in December 2014 with a B.A. in Business Management. Officer Gargano previously worked as the Manager of his family-owned Stewart’s restaurant. Officer Gargano is married to his wife Tammy and they have one daughter. Officer Gargano graduated from the Cape May County Police Academy in June 2023 and will take-up assignment in the Radio Patrol Division.

Police officer Guelmy Santiago-Fermin

Officer Guelmy Santiago-Fermin, 22, a resident of the Fords section of Woodbridge Township, graduated from Woodbridge High School in June 2018. Officer Santiago-Fermin attended Middlesex County College, earning credits toward a degree in Criminal Justice. Officer Santiago-Fermin previously worked for Amazon and FEDEX. Officer Santiago-Fermin graduated from the Cape May County Police Academy in June 2023 and will takeup assignment in the Radio Patrol Division.

Police officer Aaron Jarrett

Officer Aaron Jarrett, 27, grew-up in the Fords section of Woodbridge Township and currently resides in Woodbridge Proper. Officer Jarrett graduated from Woodbridge High School in June 2013 and previously worked as an Assistant Manager at Auto Parts International in Edison. Officer Jarret also served as a Woodbridge Township Auxiliary Police Officer for the past five years and graduated from the Cape May County Police academy in June 2023. Officer Jarrett will take-up assignment in the Radio Patrol Division.

Police officer Alexander Rebelo

Officer Alexander Rebelo, 24, grew-up in the Avenel section of the Township and currently resides in Colonia. Officer Rebelo graduated Colonia High School in June 2016. Officer Rebelo graduated from Middlesex County College with an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and is currently enrolled and attending Kean University. Officer Rebello previously worked as a Correctional Police Officer at the Middlesex County Department of Corrections. Officer Rebelo graduated from the Cape May County Police Academy in June 2023 and will take-up assignment in the Radio Patrol Division.

Police officer Christopher Handville

Officer Christopher Handville, 25, a resident of the Colonia section of Woodbridge Township, graduated from Colonia High School in June 2015. Officer Handville graduated from Rutgers University in May 2019 with a B.S. Degree in Sports Management. Officer Handville was previously employed with Devils Arena Entertainment in Newark, NJ. Officer Handville, a proud father of a newborn son, graduated from the Cape May County Police Academy in June 2023 and will take up assignment in the Radio Patrol Division. Officer Christopher Handville is the second member of the Handville family to serve in the ranks of the WPD - his brother, WPD Officer Joseph Handville, a Six-Year Veteran, assigned to the Radio Patrol Division.
