792 Woodbridge-ites Have Coronavirus, But 'Majority' Recovered

"We just do not want people to think there are almost 800 Woodbridge residents still sick from the virus," said Mayor John McCormac.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac said Thursday that, to date, the town has recorded 792 coronavirus cases, but "the vast majority of them have recovered and are back to their normal lives — if there is such a thing as normal any more."

"We want to stress that we do not still have 792 cases of people still infected. This is the number of positive cases since we started getting numbers in," said McCormac. "We just do not want people to think there are almost 800 Woodbridge residents still sick from the virus."

As Patch has been chronicling, the Woodbridge new case number continues to decline. There were 41 new cases identified Thursday, April 16.

"One week ago we reported 77 cases and eight days ago we reported 87," said McCormac. "So 41 is a significant number, but in comparison to our worst days it is only half as bad."

He said it is difficult to know the exact amount of deaths due to COVID-19 because of incomplete reporting by healthcare facilities.
