Adrian Allotey Shines the Light on The Longest Day

The Alzheimer’s Association Greater New Jersey Chapter (AAGNJ), the leading volunteer-driven health organization in Alzheimer's care, support, advocacy and research, is highlighting inspiring stories and contributions from people making a difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.

With more than 6 million Americans living with Alzheimer's disease or other dementia, and more than 11 million family and friends providing care and support for them, individuals across the country are seeking ways to assist those afflicted with the disease. In New Jersey alone, there are more than 190,000 people living with the Alzheimer’s and 361,000 caregivers. On June 21, many of them will be participating in The Longest Day (TLD). The event is held annually on the longest day of the year, the summer solstice, and is a day to raise awareness and funds to help end the disease.

Today we say thank you to Adrian Allotey, of Colonia, an End-of-Life Doula. "Adrian is using her passion for helping others by fundraising for The Longest Day. She has ensured that the families that she comes into contact with through her job are equipped with the information that they need to help them on their life journey," said Danielle Buckler, Special Events Coordinator, AAGNJ.

Adrian, explains, “Over the years, people from various backgrounds have reached out to me for assistance in answering questions in the following areas; End of Life Doula, Caregiving, Aging Companionship, and Dementia & Alzheimer’s. After helping countless families navigate these important life issues, I decided to donate my time, expertise and knowledge to celebrate and fundraise for The Longest Day. I am offering free consultations on June 21. I am simply asking for donations that will go to support Alzheimer’s Association educational programs, care and support, and research. Filling my calendar will allow me to feel what my clients feel - exhaustion from processing so much information, and somewhat anxious and agitated as I attempt to keep it all together so no one will notice.
