Wrong-Way Driver Killed On NJ Turnpike, Smashed Into Truck

A car and a truck were involved.

A 57-year-old man was killed when he was driving the wrong way on the New Jersey Turnpike on Monday, police said.

Steven Hom, 57, of Scarsdale, N.Y., was driving south in the northbound lanes of the Turnpike when he hit a truck traveling north near milepost 93.6 at 11:28 a.m., police said.

Hom was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:44 a.m.

The left and center lanes of the car-truck lane portion of the Turnpike were closed in the Woodbridge area for at least 5 hours, according to the State Police.

The two vehicles were a Honda Civic and a freight-liner truck, police said. Significant delays were reported in the area.
