WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A bear was seen throughout Woodbridge this week and at midday on Wednesday, Carteret Mayor Dan Reiman just announced a bear snoozing in a tree had been tranquilized in his town.

"The female black bear was safely removed and while she is napping will (be) relocated to a state park by NJ Wildlife," Reiman posted to his personal Facebook page at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, with photos of the bear.

In the early morning hours Wednesday, the bear was seen "leisurely strolling down Carteret Avenue (which is a favorite walking aisle for the residents) from the Conrail train tracks along the Turnpike," posted Reiman. "It wound up making its way to a residential area off of Roosevelt Ave. before napping in a nearby tree."
