Berkeley College Raises $80,000 to Help Others

The local business college worked hard and raised money for those in need.

The 80th Anniversary Committee of announced that during 2011, more than $80,000 was raised through Berkeley Cares, the college's initiative to support charities that serve local communities in the critical areas of food, shelter, health, and student success.

“Berkeley College has a long tradition of serving organizations in the local community,” said Annette Long, Berkeley College Vice President and Co-Chair of the 80th Anniversary Committee. One of the college's eight locations is in Woodbridge.

“As part of our anniversary theme, ‘Berkeley College – Changing Lives for 80 Years,’ the College had set a goal of raising at least $80,000 for charities through participation in various community service events and activities,” added Laura Jewell, Berkeley College Assistant Vice President for Advancement. “We are proud to announce we have raised more than $80,000, and the campaign has not yet ended.”

The organizations that received $1,000 or more include: the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the American Diabetes Association, the American Red Cross, Fashion for Autism, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Passaic and Paterson, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Food Bank of New York, the Japan Relief Fund, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the March of Dimes, and Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
