UPDATE: One person was reportedly killed in an accident on the New Jersey Turnpike on Monday.
Multiple injuries were reported in the New Jersey Turnpike crash on Monday afternoon, according to state transportation officials.
The accident happened around 3:23 p.m. on the New Jersey Turnpike - Hudson County Extension westbound, near Interchange 14C - Toll Plaza in Jersey City, according to officials.

The middle of the plaza was blocked.
State police said the person was pronounced dead after the an apparent head-on collision just near the toll booths, according to WNBC-TV.

NBC 4 footage from the scene shows a van that appears to belong to a health care company and a badly-mangled car, according to the report.
Officials with Care Point, the company that owns the van, said that the car was carrying the victim who died. State police said there were multiple injuries, and patients were being transported to Jersey City Medical Center, according to the report.
WNBC-TV first broke the story, showing the scene of the accident on the road, showing multiple cars that appeared to be involved, and a blanket.
