Driscoll Bridge Jumper Was Edison Woman, State Police Say

Edison woman jumped from the Driscoll Bridge at 6:32 a.m. Saturday.

Edison, NJ - A woman who jumped off the Driscoll Bridge in the early morning hours Saturday was identified as Edison resident Christine Zigre, New Jersey State Police confirmed to Patch.

Zigre, 48, jumped off the Alfred E. Driscoll Garden State Parkway Bridge at 6:32 a.m. Saturday, State Police Sgt. Gregory Williams said. Another driver called 911 to report the jump off the bridge, which rises over the Raritan Bay and connects Woodbridge and Sayreville.

After a search of the water below, Perth Amboy Fire and Rescue found her body in Raritan Bay, Williams said.

State Troopers from the Holmdel station found a car abandoned at mile marker 127.5 on the southbound Garden State Parkway, reported MyCentralJersey.com.

Members of the U.S. Coast Guard also helped with the search.

She was taken to Raritan Bay Medical Center, but pronounced dead at 7:53 a.m. Saturday, Williams said.
