Bus Aid Stole from Special-Needs Children, Woodbridge Police Say
She stole money meant for field trips from five special-needs children, ages 6 to 9, police say.

Woodbridge, NJ - A school bus aid responsible for getting special-needs children to and from school stole money from the students on their bus rides, Woodbridge Police announced Tuesday.
Candice Milford, a 30-year-old Avenel resident, was arrested Monday, said Captain Roy Hoppock of the Woodbridge Police.
On December 11, Woodbridge Police received information that someone was stealing money from five special-needs children who attend a Woodbridge Township school. The children are ages 6 to 9, Hoppock told Patch. Police looked into the tip immediately.

“The detectives moved fast once we received the information,” Hoppock told Patch.
Aided by the juvenile bureau, police determined that Milford was the culprit, they said. Milford was employed by the Woodbridge Twp. School District as a bus aid, and was responsible for making sure the children got to and from school safely.

The money she took was supposed to be used for class field trips, police say. The exact amount she stole is unknown at this time, but Milford has been charged with nine counts of third-degree theft.
She is currently being held on a $75,000 bail at the Middlesex County Correctional Facility, Hoppock said.
