Car Drove Into Piscataway Lake, Driver Died
A 30-year-old New Brunswick man drove into Lake Nelson in Piscataway Saturday night and, despite rescue attempts, drowned in the lake.
PISCATAWAY, NJ ā A 30-year-old New Brunswick man drove into Lake Nelson in Piscataway Saturday night and, despite rescue attempts, drowned in the lake.
The driver has been identified as Alquan Green, of New Brunswick.
At approximately 6:51 p.m. Saturday, he was driving north on Metlars Lane and crashed through a guard rail and went into Lake Nelson, said a Piscataway town spokesman.

Piscataway Township Police officers Lance LeBrew, Michael J. Medvecky and Kyle Snyder, joined by a local resident who lives on the lake, Dennis Gilbert, all dove into the water to try to save the driver.
Green was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

As shown in the photos, the Somerset Dive Team subsequently had to secure the car to have a special towing service pull it out.
The incident is still under investigation and what exactly caused him to crash has not yet been determined.
The Piscataway Township Police Department, North Stelton Rescue Squad, Arbor Hose Company, New Market Fire Company, North Stelton Fire Company, Somerset Fire & Rescue Co. No. 1, Middlesex County Hazmat and Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Emergency Medical Service all responded.
