Carteret Man Fatally Beat His Grandmother, Prosecutor Says

Cyril Lloyd, 26, is accused of beating his grandmother to death Monday afternoon at their home near Taylor Avenue:

CARTERET, NJ — A Carteret man is accused of killing his grandmother on Monday, announced Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Carteret Police Chief Dennis McFadden.

At approximately 5:29 p.m. Monday, authorities received a 911 call reporting that a man who appeared to be covered in blood was seen near Taylor Avenue.

Cartetet Police responded and officers located Cyril Lloyd, 26, of Carteret.

Lloyd was transported back to his home and when police entered the residence, they found the body of his grandmother, Juanita Quinones, 77.

She was unresponsive and appeared to have multiple head wounds. Quinones was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Lloyd was arrested without incident and charged with first-degree murder, third-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon. Police did not say what the weapon was.

Lloyd is currently at the Middlesex County Jail.
