Convicted Child Killer Michelle Lodzinski Sues Middlesex County

Michelle Lodzinski, serving 30 years in prison for murdering her 5-year-old son in 1991, says she fell while in handcuffs.

SOUTH AMBOY, NJ — Michelle Lodzinski, the former South Amboy woman who is serving 30 years in prison for murdering her 5-year-old son, is now suing Middlesex County and the Middlesex County Sheriff. She says she was injured when she fell while in handcuffs during her trial last year.

Lodzinski often appeared during her trial with her wrist bandaged. She claims deputy sheriffs taking her to holding cells in the courthouse basement moved too quickly while both her wrists and ankles were restrained, causing her to fall, NJ.com reported.

Lodzinski was found guilty by a jury last year of killing her son, Timothy Wiltsey, 5, and dumping his body in a creek in marshy Raritan Center.

The tragic murder was decades ago: Timothy was last seen at a carnival in Sayreville on May 25, 1991. The boy's skeleton remains were found a year later, in April, 1992, in the creek. Michelle had once worked near that area.

When the boy first went missing, Michelle took a vacation to the Bahamas. Michelle showed no emotion at her son's funeral, relatives said during her trial.

After the murder, Lodzinski moved to Florida, got remarried and had more children. If he was alive today, Timothy Wiltsey would be 31 years old.

Lodzinski's attorney, Gerald Krovatin said the injury caused her pain and forced her to be on limited work duty at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility in Hunterdon County, where she is serving her sentence, NJ.com reported. She is seeking unspecified damages and costs.
