East Brunswick Police Track Down Woman, Charge Her in Fatal Hit-and-Run

Police tracked down the driver in a fatal September 2014 hit-and-run after a body shop repaired her vehicle.

A 64-year-old North Brunswick woman has been charged in a fatal hit-and-run from September 2014.

Louise T. Swale, 64, has been charged in the death of Daniel Catalfamo, 29, of Edison, NJ.com reported. Swale is charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death, tampering with physical evidence and hindering apprehension, police said according to NJ.com.

At 8:20 p.m. on Sept. 17, Catalfamo was struck by Swale after entering and trying to cross Route 18 South. Swale then fled the scene southbound on Route 18.

Catalfamo was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead at 9:07 p.m.

According to NJ.com, police were able to track down the woman after an auto-body shop repaired her vehicle. Employees at the body shop were unaware of the fatal hit-and-run accident, authorities said.

Swale was transported to the Middlesex County jail in lieu of $75,000 bail, without a 10 percent option, NJ.com said.
