East Jersey State Prison Guard Charged With Child Porn

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A corrections officer at the East Jersey State Prison in Avenel was charged Thursday with trying to download child porn images online.

Stephen Salamak, 37, of Lodi, was arrested at his home Thursday. According to MyCentralJersey.com, he worked as a senior correction officer at the infamous state prison. His salary as of 2016 was $47,588.

Salamak used email to seek and obtain images of child sexual abuse, including images of prepubescent children, the New Jersey Attorney General charges. He was arrested by special agents of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

He was charged with one count of receiving child pornography. He was released on $125,000 unsecured bond, with home confinement and electronic location monitoring.
