Edison Man Burglarized Cranford Homes, Police Say
A 36-year-old Edison Twp. man was behind three home break-ins in Cranford, and stole more than $14K in jewelry and electronics, police said.

CRANFORD, NJ — An Edison man has been arrested for burglarizing three homes in Cranford, N.J. and stealing more than $14,000 in jewelry and electronics, Cranford police announced Friday.
The arrest of Donald Mormando Jr., 36, of Edison comes after a nearly six-month investigation by Cranford police. Mormando Jr. was found to be responsible for a December 2016 Lincoln Park East burglary, a February 2017 Orchard Street burglary and a March 2017 Cranford Avenue burglary. Using cell phone data, video surveillance and pawn records, Detectives Spencer Durkin and Timothy O’Brien were able to place Mormando Jr., at each of the burglary scenes. In total more than $14,000 worth of jewelry and electronics were stolen from the homes, police report.
“This investigation was solved with a large amount of hard work and shows how new technology, interagency collaboration, and persistence can lead to charges on a career criminal,” said Cranford Police Chief James Wozniak.
