Edison Man Killed in U-Haul Accident on Rt. 27 Tuesday
Marcus Scroggins, 33, of Edison, was killed Tuesday afternoon, the Middlesex County Prosecutor and Edison Police said.
Edison, NJ - An Edison man was killed Tuesday while driving on Rt. 27 when his car was hit by someone driving a rented U-Haul.
The Middlesex County Prosecutor's office announced the death Wednesday afternoon, and said no charges have been filed yet in his death.
Marcus Scroggins, 33, of Edison, was killed and another driver was injured when the U-Haul driver crossed into on-coming traffic on Rt. 27 and struck both victims’ vehicles.

The driver of the U-Haul rental was heading north on Route 27 in Edison Township when it crossed into on-coming traffic Tuesday afternoon at 1:47 p.m.
The U-Haul side-swiped a 1999 Ford Explorer. The driver of the Explorer was injured, but he declined medical treatment. The U-Haul then continued on the wrong side of the road and crashed head-on into a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am, driven by Scroggins.

The U-Haul pushed the Pontiac about 100 feet before stopping at the Division Street intersection.
Scroggins was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detective Loren Long of the Edison Police Department and Detective Donald Heck of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office continue to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Long at (732) 248-7400, or Detective Heck at (732) 745-3300.
