Edison Paints Thin Blue Line Outside Town Hall

They also announced a new bike patrol unit to increase community policing efforts.

EDISON, NJ-- Joining nearly a dozen other New Jersey towns, Edison has painted a thin blue line outside of the municipal building and police department to show their support for local police.

The line runs along Hoey Drive leading to the Municipal Complex, and along POW-MIA Boulevard, which leads to Police Headquarters.

“It’s a modest, but very meaningful gesture to our police officers,” said PBA Local 75 President Micheal Schwarz. “That thin blue line has given them a greater sense of pride, knowing our township recognizes, supports and appreciates their efforts.”

Edison Police also announced a new bike patrol unit to monitor parks, parades and other special events where cars are impractical.

“These bike patrol are also part of our community policing initiative, offering people more opportunities to strike up conversations with officers at our parks or outside the mall,” Bryan said. “Community policing is all about getting people get to know our officers better and visa-versa.”
