WATCH: Edison Woman, Moushumi, Newest "Voice" Contestant
Edison's Moushumi will compete against Colonia's Mike Schiavo on this season of "The Voice." Who do you think is a stronger contestant?
Edison, NJ - Apparently, Middlesex County is overflowing with musical talent.
Not only was Colonia High School grad Mike Schiavo chosen for "The Voice," but on Monday night an Edison girl, Moushumi, was chosen as well. Watch Moushumi, 22, audition by singing Chris Isaak's classic love song "Wicked Game."
Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Pharrell Williams all wanted this Jersey girl singer-songwriter on their team. Moushumi's adorable parents can be seen leaping, cheering and crying with joy next to Carson Daly.

Said Pharrell: "It's crazy that you just sort of navigated around the song and made it your own thing," calling Moushumi "super fresh." She chose Team Pharrell.
Moushumi lives at home with her parents in Edison, who both immigrated to the United States from India to pursue careers in medicine. With both of her siblings following in their footsteps, Moushumi said she originally felt the need to follow in their career path, too. She attended medical school in Manipal, India, but always felt like music was her calling.

Despite her parents’ wishes, she dropped out of medical school after two years and is now pursuing her dream of a music career. She now joins Colonia native Schiavo, who is on Team Adam. Pharrell and Blake Shelton wanted Schiavo, too. So these two local kids are competing each against each other! Which Woodbridge-area "Voice" contestant will win? Should be an interesting season!
Watch Schiavo's audition here, or below. “There’s been so much support, especially from Jersey,” Schiavo told Patch earlier this month. ”I’ve had so many people from home reaching out. A lot of them are people who’ve seen me from the beginning — back when I used to play for rooms of 5 to 10 people — so it’s crazy to hear these people are still so supportive of me.”
Throughout high school Schiavo did solo acoustic shows around the Woodbridge area.
