9/11 Ceremony in Somerville Honors 39 Victims of Attacks

A tree will be planted in memory of the the 39 Somerset County residents killed during the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center at the 9/11 Memorial Clock Tower on the corner of Main Street and Bridge Street in Somerville. The event will take place at 8:46 a.m., the time when the first airplane hit one of two World Trade Center towers in 2001.

There will also be a wreath-laying at the county's 9/11 memorial and the Somerset County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard will present and retire the colors included in the ceremony. The wreath-laying ceremony has been a tradition in Somerset County since the 9/11 memorial services began.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the national Moment of Remembrance at 1:00 p.m. on Sept. 11. The
courthouse bell will toll at 1:00 p.m. as part of this observance.
