
A full day of free performances, lectures, exhibits, games, children’s activities, hands-on learning and athletic competitions will take place at Rutgers University on April 28. The Rutgers Day event will take place at Rutgers’ Busch, College Avenue and Cook/Douglass campuses.
There will be puppet shows, story book readings, arts and crafts activities, Olympic weightlifting and competitive ballroom dancing on the College Avenue Campus, along with tours and games at the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum. The Philosophers’ Café will be open for free-ranging discussions; actors portraying historic Rutgers people, such as Paul Robeson and Henry Rutgers, will tell their stories and be available for photos; and student organizations will be reaching out to the community near Bishop House.
There will be an open house at the Busch Campus' School of Engineering and the world’s largest cell and DNA repository, the Faraday Children’s Physics Lecture, obstacle-course running robots and games of skill organized by students at the Rutgers Business School.

The Douglass Campus will hosta women’s global programs and is the venue for the annual New Jersey Folk Festival which will feature Bulgarian music and culture this year. The Bulgarian ambassador to the United States, Elena Poptodorova, and Consul-General Radoslav Tochev will be honored at noon along with Rutgers President Richard L. McCormick.
On the George H. Cook Campus, visitors can meet Seeing Eye puppies, create rain barrels and learn about their role in water conservation; visit baby farm animal; and watch as a sculptor creates art out of ice with a chainsaw. The Cook Campus also is the home of Ag Field Day, which has been held on the same spot, rain or shine, for more than a century.

Free parking will be available in all university lots. A free Rutgers Day Bus Loop will run continuously among the Busch, College Avenue and Cook/Douglass campuses with stops in downtown New Brunswick. Check the website (rutgersday.rutgers.edu) for public transit information, directions and maps.
