Interested in art or horticulture? Explore your skills by attending the “Introduction to Painting in the Garden” workshop presented at the EARTH Center on Saturday June 25, 2011 from 10:00 am to Noon. An overview of painting techniques will be presented in a beautiful garden setting at the Middlesex County EARTH Center in Davidson’s Mill Pond Park, 42 Riva Avenue, South Brunswick.
Please call the Middlesex County’s Extension office at 732-398-5262 to register for the workshop. Fee for the course is $20 and registration is required by June 22. Workshop attendees will need no prior experience and materials will be provided, though attendees may bring their own. The rain date for the workshop is June 26, 2011.
The course will be taught by Middlesex County Master Gardener Maxwell Nimeck, who has a PhD in Microbiology and has had his artistic works shown in professional galleries from New York to Philadelphia. A South Brunswick resident, Dr. Nimeck works with watercolor and oil paints, to create collages and ceramic assemblages depicting seascapes, landscapes and floras.

This is one of several workshops held this year at the EARTH Center. Besides learning about painting in a natural setting, county residents can participate in compost or lawn renovation classes, purchase soil test kits, pesticide application test manuals or submit pest & disease samples.
