
The Rahway Municipal Alliance and Rahway Police Department and Prevention is holding a community education program on "Cyberbullying: Welcome to the New World of Texting, Sexting, Facebook and More" October 26 in the Rahway Middle School auditorium on Kline Place in Rahway.
Rahway Detective Sgt. Tom Rich will present the lecture. Rich has been a featured speaker at numerous conventions throughout the U.S. and has appeared on Good Morning America and the Nancy Grace show.
The program will cover the practice of texting and sexting, the use of Facebook and other social networking sites and the effectsof these websites on children. It will examine real life examples of cyberbullying and the dangers of online chatting. A discussion of Facebook will also take place focusing on Facebook profiles and the pitfalls of privacy settings.

The program is funded, in part, by the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse through the UCDHS Division of Planning. The event is free and all are welcome but the lecture is not recommended for children. Light refreshments will be served at 6:30 pm. For educators interested in attending the presentation, 1.5 hours of New Jersey Department of Education professional development credit will be provided.
