Township Offers Free Tax Assistance To Seniors


The Township of Woodbridge together with the AARP and Woodbridge Division on Aging will provide free tax assistance to senior citizens who meet eligibility requirements. Appointments may be made beginning January 16 from 9 am to noon and from 130 pm to 330 pm at the Department of Health and Human Services located behind the Woodbridge Township main Public Library. There will be one site this year for tax assistance. Be sure to make an appointment in advance as there are a limited number of volunteer tax preparers available to perform this public service.


INCOME TAX PREPARATION WILL BEGIN the week of February 6 and take place 9 am to 3 pm Mondays and Wednesdays each week through April 11. The tax deadline for 2011 tax returns is April 17, 2012. You must have all required tax statements with you or you be required to reschedule your appointment.


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: There are some limitations on what may be done by volunteers including no assistance to landlords on rental tax forms or rental income; tax returns may be prepared for those with a gross annual income must not exceed $70,000; property tax (PTR 1 & 2); relief income is as established by the State of New Jersey.
