Events Planned In Woodbridge To Celebrate America's 250th Birthday

There will be a historic bicycle tour of Woodbridge May 17, and the 7th Virginia Calvary will have a re-enactment camp at Parker Press Park.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — 2026 is the 250th birthday of the United States of America. And to celebrate, Woodbridge has many events planned throughout this spring and summer.

The Woodbridge 250th Committee has been hard at work creating unique and exciting events that celebrate the birth of our nation, featuring patriotic themes, revolutionary groups and displays, military bands, American Flag dedication service and more.

The town says: "We have a lot to celebrate and we hope everyone will join us in celebrating our nation’s 250th anniversary!"

May 17 250th Historic Bike Tour of Woodbridge 10 a.m.

Meet at Alvin P. Williams Park in Sewaren with your bicycle for a 10:00 a.m. start on a leisurely 8.5-mile bike ride around Woodbridge, with stops at 20 historic landmarks. Register on Community Pass.

In commemoration of the nation’s 250th anniversary, the Woodbridge Township Community Charity Fund is hosting a “Community Gala ~ Celebrating America" banquet. Visit www.twp.woodbridge.nj.us for information, sponsorship and tickets.

June 10 7 p.m. Woodbridge Public Library presents an interactive presentation, "America’s 250th New Jersey & The American Revolution."

June 12 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Woodbridge Public Library Mini Fair

WPL Mini History Fair that highlights individuals, events, and information displays relating to Woodbridge Revolutionary and Colonial history.

June 14 The 7th Virginia Calvary sets up a re-enactment encampment at Parker Press Park. 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

June 14 1 p.m. Woodbridge Elks Flag Day Ceremony

Woodbridge Elks Lodge #2116 and the Woodbridge 250th Community announce the annual Flag Day Ceremony to be held on Sunday, June 14, at the Lodge Post at 665 Rahway Avenue. The ceremony honors the history and significance of the "Stars and Stripes," which was officially adopted by the Second Continental Congress on June 14, 1777.

June 18 History talk about Colonial-era tea at the Barron Arts Center 1 p.m.

Explore tea traditions in 18th-century England and America. In 18th century America, tea was a symbol of social status and refinement, but it would become a catalyst for rebellion and a symbol in the fight for American freedom. Presented by local historian Judith Krall-Russo.

July 2 Woodbridge's Independence Day and fireworks celebration 4 p.m. to dusk at Alvin P. Williams Park

Kaboom! Fireworks over the Woodbridge waterfront. Celebrate an evening dedicated to America and her heroes. The annual Woodbridge Township Independence Day Celebration & fireworks return to Alvin P. Williams Memorial Park on the Sewaren waterfront.

July 7 The Barron Arts Center and American Historical Theatre present: “Common Sense: The Legacy of Thomas Paine.” 7 p.m.
