Everclear Bring Their 90s Sound to Vintage Vinyl

The alternative rockers, promoting a new CD and 90s-heavy tour, played an acoustic set at the Fords record store Saturday.

It was like the 90s never ended at Vintage Vinyl in Fords this weekend, as alternative rockers Everclear stopped by to play a set before their headlining show at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel later in the evening.

Playing a short acoustic set at the record store, the band tore through hits such as "I Will Buy You A New Life" and "Father of Mine," as well as "Be Careful What You Ask For," the single from their most recent album, Invisible Stars.

The band, perhaps best known for the song "Santa Monica," is lead by singer/guitarist Art Alexakis, who lead the band in an impromptu cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Pink Cadillac," noting that "...we're in Jersey, you know we had to do some Bruce."

After closing with "Santa Monica," the band stuck around and signed autographs for the fans in attendance before heading out for their show in Holmdel, part of the Summerland Tour - a tour featuring five bands who made it big in the 90s - Everclear, Sugar Ray, Gin Blossoms, Lit, and Marcy Playground.
