Flim Flam Job Posting in Woodbridge
An Avenel woman out of work and looking for a job told police she was scammed by a company.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ - A Woodbridge woman out of work and looking for a job told police she was scammed by a company that told her to shell out her own money for office supplies but then never reimbursed her.
The victim, who is 30 and lives in Avenel, reported the incident to police on Friday: She said that she had been looking for employment and posted her resume on numerous job boards. In December, she said she received an email from a company offering her a position as a supply manager. The company told her she would be purchasing office equipment. She was instructed to purchase a $1,500 Best Buy gift card and that she would be reimbursed by their Chase bank account. They gave her the account number and routing number.
The woman bought the gift card using her Visa credit card. On Dec. 5, $1,500 was deposited into her account. However, on Jan. 2 the deposit was reversed. The police report did not reveal the name of the company.
