Former Woodbridge Police Officer Pleads Guilty To Molesting His Cousin

A former Woodbridge Police officer pled guilty in Pennsylvania to molesting his younger cousin, starting when he was 11 and she was 8.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A former Woodbridge Police officer pled guilty in Pennsylvania to molesting his younger cousin, which the victim says started when they were both children.

Ryan Alcott, 32, is no longer on the Woodbridge Police force. His cousin, now an adult, accused him of molesting her after he was hired as a Woodbridge police officer. Woodbridge put him on an unpaid leave when he was first arrested, and he has since resigned.

He is accused of molesting his younger female cousin starting when she was eight years old and he was 11, according to New Brunswick Today, which was the first to report this story. He told prosecutors he had been left alone to babysit her the first time it happened, according to their report. It continued for the next eight years, from 2008 to 2016, ending when she was 16 and he was about 19.

He will be sentenced in Pennsylvania April 16. The maximum prison time for that crime in Pennsylvania is five years.

The woman, now an adult, first reported the molestation to Woodbridge Police in September 2024 and the Middlesex County Prosecutor opened an investigation. After he was accused, the Woodbridge Police Dept. suspended him without pay, according to these online Woodbridge Police records. Woodbridge Police are required by law to make major discipline of officers public.

A year later, in June 2025, the Middlesex County Prosecutor charged Alcott with aggravated sexual assault against a victim under the age of 13, and an additional charge of sexual assault by force or coercion.

He pled guilty to a single, much lesser charge of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, according to Middlesex County criminal records.

Middlesex County Superior Court Judge Colleen Flynn sentenced him to five years of probation (no prison time) and ordered him to forfeit all employment as a law enforcement officer.

In Pennsylvania, the Wayne County District Attorney initially charged Alcott with a total of 30 sex crimes. On Jan. 15, 2026, Alcott reached a plea deal where he admitted to one count of aggravated indecent assault of a child. In exchange, the 29 other charges were dismissed.
